On January 1st 2015 a new law came into effect that had direct consequences on the Canadian Petroleum Industry. This law has been formulated around a previously unenforced gas code, CSA B149, which stipulates the implementation, operation and inspection of all gas fired equipment. CSA B149 was originally published in 1958 as a standard for burner management, and while the code has evolved over the past fifty years, it wasn’t until early 2015 that it was incorporated into the Alberta Safety Codes Act and enforceable by law.
